What is Generic Duloxetine ?

Generic Duloxetine can be used as an antidepressant drug which is in the group of selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIS). This is used very commonly by doctor or psychiatrist. For Fibromyalgia (a chronic pain disorder) Duloxetine is also prescribed. Other mood disorder such as Bipolar disorders, DD-NOS could be used Duloxetine.

Overview:
Our nervous system works with various Neurotransmitters (chemicals transmit signals to brain) which control our mood. Depression is mainly caused by increasing or decreasing of some Neurotransmitters. Using of duloxetine increases two important Neurotransmitters called serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) & norepinephrine (4-[(1R)-2-amino-1-hydroxyethyl] benzene-1, 2-diol) that is the thing controls our mood. Duloxetine also treats muscle or joint pain even it is chronic.

Dosage:
Dosage of Generic Duloxetine is different for different patient & depends on the condition of the patient. So it is recommended strongly to follow advice of a professional. But here are some general dosages:

Dose usually for pain (Adult):
Neuropathic pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy and for chronic musculoskeletal pain & for chronic low back pain: General dose: 60 mg in a day without regarding to meals.
But it may vary for patients. Some patient should start it with low dosage. More than 120 mg a day is harmful for health. But more than 60 mg in a day usually has no extra benefit.

Dose for depression (Adult):
Dose for depression should be increased gradually from 40 mg daily to 60 mg per day. 40 mg dose should be taken 20 mg twice per day. 60 mg dose could be taken once as a 60 mg tablet or twice as 30 mg each time without regarding meals.

Dose for Anxiety (adults):
Initially Duloxetine may be given 60 mg once in a day. But it can be increased 30 mg in a day. Maximum 120 mg in a day can be prescribed. Who has a tolerability concern should start with 30 mg a day. More than 120 mg a day is harmful for health. But more than 60 mg in a day usually has no extra benefit. There is no strong evidence that more than 60 mg in a day has additional benefit, although 120 mg in a day is safe. But you should not be over dosed.

For Fibromyalgia (adults):
Initial dose: Every day 30 mg for one week without regarding meals.
Usual Dose: Every day 60 mg for one week without regarding meals.
Dose should be beginning at 30 mg once a day for one whole week for adjusting the medication for patient before increasing dose to 60 mg per day.

Duloxetine is known by different brand name such as Cymbalta, Yentreve, Xeristar, Ariclaim, Duzela which are manufactured by Eli Lily .

Generic Duloxetine strengths:
Generic duloxetine is normally marketed as 20 mg, 30 mg, 40 mg & 60 mg pills. You have to take this pill orally as a whole pill. Never chew, grind or smash, it will be caused releasing a lot amount of duloxetine at a time.
